Eastern Kingbird
This Eastern Kingbird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Eastern Kingbird has a black head, slate gray back and a broad white terminal band on the tail. The under-parts are white with a pale gray wash across the breast. The orange-red crown patch is seldom visible. Juveniles are brownish-gray above and darker on the breast. The call is a harsh dzeet note, also given in a series. Commonly found and conspicuous in woodland clearings, farms and orchards; often seen near water.
