This Scott's Oriole carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The black hood of the adult male Scott's Oriole extends to the back and breast. The rump, wing patch and under-parts are a bright, lemon-yellow. The adult female is olive and streaked above, dull, greenish-yellow below and shows a variable amount of black on the throat. Immature male's head is mostly black by the first spring. Females and immatures are larger, grayer, more streaked above and have a straighter bill than the female Hooded Oriole. The common call note is a harsh shack. The song is a mixture of rich, whistled phrases. Found in arid and semi-arid habitats.
