This Tufted Titmouse carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Tufted Titmouse has a gray crest and a distinct, blackish forehead. The juvenile has a brownish forehead and a pale crest. In the overlap zone in Texas, hybrids show variable, brown foreheads and dark gray crests. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 334
