This Masked Lovebird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. A member of the parrot family, the Masked Lovebird is a native of northeast Tanzania. There are two categories of masked lovebirds, the Black-masked and the Blue-masked (often called Cobalt). When you hear about blue Masked Lovebirds - they are actually blue BLACK-masked Lovebirds. The blue does not denote the mask, but the ground color of the mutation. The Masked Lovebird is one of the smaller lovebirds, compared to other species of Lovebirds. Their diet is mainly seed with fresh fruit and vegetables.
