This Abyssinian Lovebird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. Also known as the Black-winged Lovebird, the Abyssinian Lovebird is a sexually dimorphic lovebird species. The size is about 6 to 6 1/2 inches long, making them the largest of the lovebird species. The male has a red forehead and red ring around the eye. The female has no red on the forehead. The natural habitat of Abyssinian Lovebirds ranges from southern Eritrea to southwestern Ethiopia. They tend to be found on the high plains and mountainous regions.
