This Open Winged, Calliope Hummingbird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The female Calliope Hummingbird's under-parts resemble the female Broad-tailed species. Immature males are similar to the female but some immatures show red on the throat by late summer. This relatively silent Hummingbird is commonly found and likes to summer in the mountains.
