This Rufous-capped Warbler carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Rufous-capped Warbler is a Mexican species, casual to Edward's Plateau and Big Bend, Texas. With a rufous crown, bold whitee eyebrows and throat that is extensively bright yellow, this species also has a long tail that is often cocked. The song begins with musical chip notes and accelerates into a series of dry, whistled warbles. The call is a tik, often doubled or in a rapid series. An inhabitant of brush and woodlands of foothills or low mountains, the bird generally stays low in the undergrowth.
