Magnolia Warbler

This Magnolia Warbler carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The male Magnolia Warbler is blackish above, with white eyebrows, white wing patch, a yellow rump and broad, white tail patches. The under-parts are yellow, streaked on the breast and sides. The under-tail coverts are white except for a black band at the tip of the under-tail. The female has two wing bars and some first-Spring females have a dull, white eye ring. The song is a short, whistled weety-weety-weeteo. Commonly found in moist coniferous forests.
