This Carolina Chickadee carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Carolina Chickadee is very similar to the Black-capped Chickadee with its black cap and bib and white cheeks. The Carolina Chickadee lacks the broad white edgings on greater wing converts and the lower edge of the black bib is usually neater with less olive on the flanks than the Black-capped. Commonly found in open deciduous forest, woodland clearings and in the edges of suburban areas. Feeds in trees and thickets and seldom descends to the ground.
