This Pair of Black-capped Chickadees carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The usual ranges of Black-capped and Carolina Chickadee barely overlap, but periodic fall irruptions push the Black-capped's range south of his normal mapped range. Where the breeding ranges overlap, the two species sometimes cross-breed. Common in open woodlands, clearings, and suburbs.
