Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
This Scissor-tailed Flycatcher carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher is pearl-gray above with whitish and salmon-pink below. It has very long outer tail feathers that are white with black tips; also salmon-pink wing linings with reddish axillaries. The male's tail is longer than the female's and the juvenile is paler overall, with a shorter tail. The calls are similar to the Western Kingbird. Normally found in semi-open country.
