This 10-inch Barn Owl carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Barn Owl has dark eyes in a heart-shaped face with rusty-brown above and under-parts that vary from white to cinnamon. The darkest Birds are always females and the palest birds are always males. The Barn Owl roosts and nests in dark cavities in city and farm buildings, cliffs, and trees. The typical call is a raspy, hissy screech. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 256
