This is a fully detailed and life sized carving. The total carving is about 19-1/4 inches high. From the tip of the beak to the end of the tail this carving is 17 inches long. It is hand carved from basswood and painted in acrylics. The bird is mounted on a hand carved wooden branch and base. Glass eyes and the feet are hand made from modeling putty. . Harris's Hawk is chocolate-brown overall, with chestnut shoulder patches, leggings, and wing linings; white at the base and tip of a long tail and rounded wing-tips. The juvenile is heavily streaked below and the chestnut shoulder patches are less distinct. Inhabits semi-arid woodland and brush land. Gregarious and sometimes hunts in small, cooperative groups.
