This 9-inch Mini-Crow carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The long, heavy bill of the American Crow is noticeably smaller than in Ravens. The fan-shaped tail distinguishes all Crows from Ravens in flight. The adult American Crow is readily identified by the familiar caw call, but the juvenile's higher-pitched, nasal cah begging call resembles the call of the similar Fish Crows. Generally common throughout most of the United States in a wide variety of habitats. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 326
