9-inch Mini-Raven
This 9-inch Mini-Raven carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Common Raven is distinguished from the Common Crow by the Raven's long, heavy bill and long, wedge-shaped tail. The most common call of this large bird is a low, drawn-out croak. The Common Raven is larger than the Chihuahuan Raven and has thicker, shaggier throat feathers and nasal bristles that do not extend as far out on the larger bill. Found in a variety of habitats, including mountains, deserts, and coastal areas. Numerous in western and northern part of its range, the Common Raven is uncommon and local, but is slowly spreading in the Appalachians.
