This Northern Mockingbird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The white outer tail feathers and white wing patches of the Northern Mockingbird will flash in flight and in territorial displays. The song is a mixture of original and imitative phrases, each repeated several times. This bird often sings at night and also imitates other species' songs and calls. Both sexes sing in the fall, claiming feeding territories. The call is a loud, sharp check. The Northern Mockingbird can be found in a variety of habitats including towns.
