This Green Jay carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Green Jay exhibits distinct regional forms within its large but discontinuous range, which includes Texas in the United States, Mexico and Central America and then further South in Peru, Columbia and Venezuela. Green Jays feed on a wide range of insects, acorns and various cereal grains. Remarkably these birds have been observed using sticks as tools to extract insects from tree bark.
