This Gray Catbird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Gray catbird is plain-dark gray with a black cap and a long, black tail which is often cocked. The undertail coverts are chestnut. The Song is a mixture of melodious, nasal, and squeaky notes interspersed with catlike mew notes; some are good mimics. Most readily identified by a harsh, down slurred mew call. The Catbird also give a low quirt and a clucking noise. This species is generally common but rather secretive in thickets.
