This Audubon's Oriole carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. Audubon's Oriole is a tropical species, resident but uncommon in southern Texas. The male has a greenish-yellow back. The female is slightly duller. Rather secretive, it is often seen foraging on the ground. The song is a series of soft, tentative, three-note warbles.
