This Rose-breasted Grosbeak carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The female Rose-breasted Grosbeak's streaked plumage and yellow wing linings resemble the female Black-headed Grosbeak, but the Rose-breasted's under-parts are more heavily and extensively streaked. The rich, warbled songs of both species are nearly identical. The Rose-breasted's call, a sharp eek, is squeakier than that of the Black-headed. Common in wooded habitat along watercourses.
