This Male Evening Grosbeak carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. Juveniles have brown bills. Female juveniles resemble the adult females while the males are more yellow overall with wing and tail like the adult male. The loud, strident call is a clee-ip or peeer. Species breeds in mixed woods; in the West, mainly in the mountains. In the winter, it frequents woodlots, shade trees, and feeders.
