Yellow-headed Blackbird
This Yellow-headed Blackbird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The adult male Yellow-headed Blackbird has a yellow head, breast and white wing patch which contrasts sharply with its black body. The adult female is dusky brown and lacks the wing patch; the eyebrows, lower cheek and throat are yellow or buffy-yellow and the belly is streaked with white. The song begins with a harsh, rasping note and ends with a long descending buzz. The call note is a rich croak.
