This Bohemian Waxwing carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Bohemian Waxwing is larger and grayer than the Cedar Waxwing, with gray under-parts and cinnamon under-tail coverts. Also with white and yellow spots on the wings and in flight, the white wing patch at the base of the primaries is conspicuous. The distinctive call is a buzzy, twittering - lower and harsher than that of the Cedar Waxwing. Nesting in open coniferous or mixed woodlands, it is often seen perched on the top of a black spruce.
