This Oregon Junco carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Oregon Junco of the West has slaty to blackish hood, rufous-brown to buffy-brown back and sides. Females have a duller hood color. Of the eight sub-species in the "Oregon" group of Juncos the more southerly races are paler. Wintering mainly in the West, Oregon Juncos are very rarely spotted in the East during the winter.
