This open-mouthed Black-throated Green Warbler carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Black-throated Green Warbler has bright, olive-green upper-parts with a yellow face and greenish ear patch. The under-parts are white, tinged with yellow on the sides of the vent and often on the breast. The male has a black throat and upper breast with black-streaked sides. Females show much less black below. One song is a hoarse zee zee zee-zo-zee; the other song is often written as trees, trees, whispering trees. Commonly found in coniferous or mixed forests in the summer. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 384
