This Yellow-rumped Warbler carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Yellow-rumped Warbler has a yellow rump, yellow patch on the side, yellow crown patch and white tail patches. There are slight color variations in sub-species, including the northern and eastern birds, "Myrtle Warbler" and Western "Audubon's Warbler". The song is a slow warble, usually rising or falling at the end in "Audubon's' and is a musical trill in one song of "Myrtle". The call note of "Myrtle" is lower and flatter. Species is abundant in coniferous or mixed woodlands. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 380
