This open-mouthed Baby Bluebird carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. A serious decline in the population of the Eastern Bluebird in recent decades was due largely to competition with Starlings and House Sparrows for nesting sites. The provision of specially designed boxes by concerned conservationists has resulted in a promising comeback for this lovely species.
