This open-mouthed Baby Chickadee carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Black-capped Chickadee is very similar in color to the Carolina Chickadee, but the Black-Capped's colors in general are sharper and more vibrant, though these differences are obscured in some worn summer birds. Usually forages in thickets and low branches of trees. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 336
