This Boreal Chickadee carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Boreal Chickadee is grayish-brown on its crown and back with pinkish brown flanks. The rear portion of the cheeks is heavily washed with gray. These birds are fairly common in coniferous forests. In some winters, small numbers of this species may wander hundreds of miles south of their normal eastern range.
