This Blue-necked Tanager carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The range of the Blue-necked Tanager includes Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical, moist, lowland forests; subtropical or tropical moist mountains; and heavily degraded former forest. It will be found mostly in second-growth forests, forest edges, shrubby pastures, shade coffee plantations, gardens, backyards with fruiting shrubs and at bird feeders stocked with bananas. It is often seen in open areas perched on fences, vines, or shrubs.
