This Lazuli Bunting carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The male Lazuli Bunting is a bright turquoise above and on the throat with cinnamon across the breast and thick white upper wing bars. The female is grayish brown above with a grayish blue rump, whitish underparts and buffy wash across the breast. Found in open deciduous or mixed woodlands and chaparral, especially in brushy areas near water. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 440
