These wooden bird carvings will thrill you with their realistically, beautiful detail. In our galleries on the left, you will find over 350 different and unique wood carvings of birds from the tiny and mysterious Hummingbirds to majestic Eagles and wise old Owls.

Jenny Ming and her husband Yao Ming have been producing these beautiful and exquisite carved birds since 1989. From their studio in Rosendale, New York, these self-taught artists have won several awards for their craft which can be found in fine art galleries all over the world.

All of these birds are signed by Jenny and her experience, knowledge and passion for bird carving and bird physiology is evident in each of them.

Below are just a few samples of Jenny’s work.   Please choose one of the Galleries on the left to see our complete line of basswood bird carvings.

In these Galleries, you will find many finely, detailed carvings of beautiful song birds, such as Painted Buntings, Canaries and Parakeets. There is also a wide selection of wild bird carvings available, including Goldfinches, Redbirds, Bluebirds, Chickadees, Orioles, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds and many more.

We also have several magnificent species and specimens of Owls, Hawks, Eagles and other birds of prey.  At the front of each Gallery, you can read a brief list of all the species that are found in that Gallery.

There are multiple images available of most of the birds, so that you can see how the birds look from different perspectives.

All our carvings are full, life-sized representations, unless otherwise indicated.

This Sedge Wren carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The Sedge Wren has a streaked crown and back with an indistinct, whitish eyebrow. The under-parts are largely buff. The song begins with a few single notes followed by a weak, staccato trill or chatter. The call note is a rich chip, often doubled. Building a globular nest, similar to that of the Marsh Wren, the Sedge Wren is found in wet meadows or sedge marshes.

This Fox Sparrow carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. The coloration of the Fox Sparrow is highly variable. Most subspecies have a reddish rump, tail; red wings and underparts that are heavily marked with triangular spots merging into a larger spot on central breast. The songs are also variable. The songs are sweet and melodic in the northern "Red" group and include harsher trills in other races. The large-billed Pacific races give a sharp chink call like the California Towhee. Others give a tschup note, like Lincolns Sparrow but louder.
