This Blue Jay carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. Blue Jays claim as a residence most of Eastern North America. The coloring is predominantly lavender-blue to mid-blue feathering from the top of the head to midway down the back with a pronounced crest on the head. The Blue Jay is a very lovely, multi-colored bird with the color changing to black, sky-blue and white barring on the wings and the tail. Other color features include an off-white underside, as well as a black collar around the neck and sides of the head and a white face.
