This Harris's Sparrow carving was hand-crafted from solid Basswood. Harris's Sparrow is a large sparrow with a black crown, face and bib with a pink bill. The Winter adult's crown is blackish with buffy cheeks and the throat may be all-black or show white flecks or a partial white band. Fairly commonly found and nests in stunted boreal forest; winters in open woodlands and brush lands. Reference National Geographic Field Guide To The Birds of North America, Fifth Edition, Page 424
